It was a great chapel service

It was a great chapel service. Bruce Curry talked about trusting God. I have to admit that sometimes in chapel services I look around and I can see that not everyone is concentrating (and sometimes that’s an understatement).

But this day, Brother Bruce had everyone’s attention. People could relate to what he was saying – and the way he said it.

One of the things he said was, “You get on an airplane or a bus and you have no idea who the pilot or driver is. Yet you trust that they will take you to your destination. If you are so quick to trust a perfect stranger like that, how could you have a problem trusting God?”

After the service, I did something I’ve often done. I offered a Bible to anyone who wanted one. I have lots of Bibles. Some of our residents have vision problems, so I have some large print Bibles. I also have the Bible on tape and some tape players for those who can’t read.

Well, this Sunday there was a line outside my office. I ran out of large print Bibles and tape players.

One man was so happy to get the tapes. He said he couldn’t read, but he asked if he could have a printed Bible, too. Of course I gave him one. I’ve had other residents who wanted both. They had trouble reading, so they followed along in the printed Bible while they listened to the narrator read the same passage.

But not this man. He said he couldn’t read at all. He wanted the Bible to put under his pillow as he slept. That’s what his grandmother used to do.

Do you want to be a part of this ministry? You can - we need large print Bibles and cassette tape players.
