Need some storage space?Need some storage space? Just about all of us do. It’s amazing how shelves, closets, garages and attics fill up with stuff. It has become a popular topic for self-help books, magazines and websites: “How to eliminate clutter.” Just about all of them that I’ve seen mention the “one-year rule” – if you haven’t worn it or used it a year, give it away! I mention this today because I’ve been spending a lot of time at the Macon Rescue Mission’s thrift shop. We call it the “Bargain Center,” and it can be part of your solution to clutter. Just look around your house – closets, kitchens, attic, garage – everywhere that clutter builds up, and start tagging things to go to the Bargain Center. If you have a little, put it in the trunk of your car and drop it off at the mission (corner of Hazel and Telfair streets) or the Bargain Center (3375 Napier Avenue at Edna Place). We’ll unload it for you and give you your tax receipt. If you have a lot, call us to schedule a pick-up (743-5445). It’s that easy. All the profits from the sale of your donated items are tax deductible and support the mission’s work with the poor and homeless and those who are victims of domestic violence. Dave Wallace |
