One of my favorite things about this time of year

One of my favorite things about this time of year is how the moon looks on these clear, cool October and November nights. Since I was a little boy, I have stood outside at night in all the yards of the all houses where I’ve lived and looked up at the moon. What a wonderful world God has given us!

The world has a special beauty under the moon’s silvery light. But, you know, the moon doesn’t create light. It simply reflects the sun’s light.

I mention this today, because I just gave my first speech to a civic club on behalf of the Macon Rescue Mission – and I talked about love.

The Macon rescue Mission is an expression of love for our brothers and sisters who need our help.

And, as Paul said in First Corinthians chapter 13, love isn’t just a great thing – it’s the greatest thing.

But, as great as our expressions of love are, they – like the light from the moon – are just a reflection. They are a reflection of the great love that God gives to us.

You’ll read today in this newsletter about lots of opportunities for those of us who have been blessed to reflect God’s love through the work of the mission. Whatever your talents and whatever your ability to give, they are appreciated – and they will make a difference at the Macon Rescue Mission.
