We have a new baby!We have a new baby! No, not Karen (my wife) and I. That would be like the story of Abraham and Sarah. I’m talking about a baby born into our mission family, to one of our women residents. He is an absolutely beautiful baby boy, born July 19, and his mother named him Zion. I asked her about the name, and she said, “It just sounded right.” In the Old Testament, the name Zion is used to refer to Jerusalem and God’s chosen people. In the New Testament, it’s used to refer to God’s Church and the heavenly city called Zion. Well, just for a moment now, imagine you are looking into the angelic face of that innocent baby boy named Zion. In that face is all the reason anyone would ever need to get involved - and stay involved - in the Macon Rescue Mission. He never hurt anyone. He never did anything wrong. He just arrived at the mission, helpless, and he is in our care. Zion’s mother is in our care, too. His brother and his sister are in our care. So are three more mothers, another single woman and eight more children. And, as I write this, we have 26 men – two of them sleeping on pallets on the floor. The mission is full. It’s filled with activity - children laughing and having fun, adults working to get their lives back together. You are a part of it. You make it possible. Will you tell a friend this month about the mission, and share our story? Thank you. Dave Wallace |
